A more flexible data platform and more reliable management reporting for a manufacturing company

CHALLENGE

The data platform behind Bellus‘s analytics had grown complex over the years, making it time-consuming to maintain and extend. It was difficult to guarantee reliable, up-to-date reporting, while at the same time the need for new management, sales and production reports kept growing.

SOLUTION

In 2023, Bellus began working with Wizon to modernise its existing analytics and reporting solution and build a solid data platform for future growth. The analytics were migrated to a flexible, easily extensible solution built largely on open-source components. We reorganised the data processing and management logic, and introduced dbt for data preparation, helping to manage, test and develop business logic more clearly. Grafana was introduced to visualise production data, giving an up-to-date view of what’s happening on the factory floor.

RESULTS

Bellus now has a more flexible, more reliable analytics platform that can be developed quickly alongside the company’s needs. Reporting is more reliable and requires far less manual work. Up-to-date production and management information gives a firmer foundation for everyday business decisions.
