CHALLENGE

Riigi Kinnisvara‘s existing data platform no longer met the company’s needs: its structure and logic were difficult for the client to understand, and even small changes or fixes took a disproportionate amount of time.

SOLUTION

Wizon built a new data platform on modern data analytics and ETL tools. The solution remained on-premise, but visibility, development speed and ease of maintenance all improved significantly. The platform is fully owned by the client and built entirely on open-source tools, for which there is ample development capacity available in the market.

RESULTS

The chosen tools let the data platform adapt quickly to the company’s changing needs, whether that means new data sources, shifting reporting requirements, or avoiding analytics bottlenecks. The open-source components reduce the risk of vendor lock-in: if needed, the development partner can be replaced, or development can be brought in-house entirely. Riigi Kinnisvara builds its own analytical dashboards, while ETL and data warehouse development are outsourced.

CHALLENGE

For the Estonian Health Insurance Fund (Tervisekassa) and TEHIK, building a large, long-lasting data solution meant one thing above all: avoiding dependence on a single vendor, while keeping the platform easy to manage and transparent to use – it has to serve multiple parties over a long lifespan.

SOLUTION

In 2025, we began migrating the data warehouse to a shared platform, using predominantly open-source components. A significant part of the solution is code-generated, which simplifies development and maintenance despite the platform’s complexity. The platform is designed to scale with future requirements and support TEHIK’s broader development needs.

RESULTS

The ETL patterns and dbt mesh architecture are designed for easy extension, while the platform supports collaboration across multiple partners. With open-source skills widely available in the market, the client can flexibly scale development capacity as needed.

CHALLENGE

The data platform behind Bellus‘s analytics had grown complex over the years, making it time-consuming to maintain and extend. It was difficult to guarantee reliable, up-to-date reporting, while at the same time the need for new management, sales and production reports kept growing.

SOLUTION

In 2023, Bellus began working with Wizon to modernise its existing analytics and reporting solution and build a solid data platform for future growth. The analytics were migrated to a flexible, easily extensible solution built largely on open-source components. We reorganised the data processing and management logic, and introduced dbt for data preparation, helping to manage, test and develop business logic more clearly. Grafana was introduced to visualise production data, giving an up-to-date view of what’s happening on the factory floor.

RESULTS

Bellus now has a more flexible, more reliable analytics platform that can be developed quickly alongside the company’s needs. Reporting is more reliable and requires far less manual work. Up-to-date production and management information gives a firmer foundation for everyday business decisions.

CHALLENGE

As Hüpoteeklaen grew, so did its reporting and analysis needs, to the point where the company saw both a need and an opportunity to partially automate reporting and analytics, freeing up people’s time for meaningful analysis work.

SOLUTION

Wizon built Hüpoteeklaen a cloud-based data platform that brings together the business data needed for reporting and analysis. With an analytics and visualization tool, the company can use this data both for regular, automatically refreshing reports and for ad hoc analysis.

RESULTS

The cloud-based data platform is now a single, automatically refreshing source of information for analytics at Hüpoteeklaen. Employees who have completed Tableau training can independently build the reports needed for business decisions, while a wider group of users relies on Tableau to find the business information they need in their daily work.

CHALLENGE

Analytics at Hoolekandeteenused was largely Excel-based, with data scattered across multiple software systems. There was no shared data platform or single source of truth for understanding business performance. As a result, producing analytics was labour-intensive and prone to errors, while day-to-day management reporting depended heavily on a small number of individual experts.

SOLUTION

During the project, we built a cloud-based data platform with a Snowflake data warehouse, Tableau reporting and open-source ETL tools including Pentaho, Kestra, Airbyte and dbt. This approach allowed the organisation to start with a lower initial investment and scale the platform gradually as its needs evolved.

RESULTS

Today, key datasets are consolidated in the data warehouse and ready to support a wide range of analytical needs. The organisation now has a single source of truth, bringing together data from systems and sources across the business. An in-house Tableau user base has been trained to handle day-to-day analytics needs independently, from building new reports to creating dashboards. Beyond the core user group, Tableau has also become a natural part of everyday decision-making, with a wider group of employees using it to find answers for themselves.

CHALLENGE

As GKR Trade‘s business volumes grew, so did the time and effort spent on reporting, and this had become a problem: manually pulling data from source systems, then building, checking and, where needed, correcting regular reports in Excel, was taking up too much working time. GKR Trade’s goal was to free up that time for meaningful analysis and get regular reporting running automatically.

SOLUTION

As part of the project, we built a cloud-based data platform made up of a Snowflake data warehouse, open-source ELT components (Airflow, Airbyte, dbt) and Tableau reporting. Using open-source ELT components meant we could start with a relatively low initial investment and automate the first part of the reporting relatively quickly. Since then, the data platform has been developed further step by step, according to GKR Trade’s needs.

RESULTS

The company’s key reports are now automated, and fresh data, updated regularly throughout the day, is always available to the people making business decisions. The data warehouse has become a single source of truth for analytics, bringing together and combining data from different source systems. The company now has Tableau-trained staff who can build the reports and dashboards needed for business decisions, as well as a wider group of users who can find answers in Tableau independently.

CHALLENGE

Telia used SAP BusinessObjects for business analytics, but it could no longer deliver answers quickly enough. The telecom sector moves fast, and internal expectations for data were rising too: Telia needed faster, more detailed and more visual analysis that didn’t depend constantly on the IT team.

SOLUTION

Wizon helped Telia move its entire business analytics to Tableau. We started with the business units where the need was most critical and rolled the solution out gradually across the whole organisation over about two years. The old system was fully shut down, and data now stays securely on the Tableau server instead of being downloaded to local machines. We ran training at different levels for staff and built a three-tier self-service model: simple search across all analytical content, ready-made analysis views, and direct data connections for building your own analysis.

RESULTS

Data is now easier to find and use, analysts can answer questions much faster, and users no longer have to rework results by hand in Excel. An active user community has grown on the business side that analyses data independently. Today, more than 1,000 Telia employees use data in their everyday decision-making, giving the company a stronger footing in a highly competitive market. The project ran from 2021 to 2023.
